Listen to the story of George Martin's Air Studios
Picture
George Martin is best known as the man who gave The Beatles a recording contract and produced their records. He was able to bring to life the musical imaginings of John, Paul, George and Ringo. delivering some of the most important records ever made.

But what did George Martin do when The Beatles split up in 1970? He built a state of the art recording studio on the Caribbean island of Montserrat, where some of the biggest acts of the time made albums that launched, revived and saved careers.

The story of Air Studios is told in Under The Volcano - a film by Australian director Gracie Otto. It features Sting, Jimmy Buffett, Stewart Copeland, Mark Knopfler, Midge Ure and more, telling stories of the place and the great albums made there. And as you’d expect, the soundtrack is a cracker.
