It’s always a pleasure to meet inspiring people – like Deborah De Williams. I first met Deborah in December 2010, when she came in to AC Far North for a much-deserved spell in the air conditioning. She had just turned onto the home stretch of an 18,000 kilometre run around Australia with her wonderful border collie Maggie.
Deborah and Maggie made it back home to Hobart six months after our meeting in Cairns. By that time they’d raised $200,000 for breast cancer research. Deborah was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006.
A new book called Running Pink tells Deborah’s inspiring story. Listen to my interview with Deborah De Williams.
Deborah’s next goal is to run across Antarctica – but the rules down there mean Maggie the border collie will have to stay home.
