1992 was the year compact discs overtook cassette tapes as the most popular way to get recorded music. Silence of the Lambs cleaned up at the Oscars.

Lots of us found a way on to the internet with Lynx, the first text-based web browser.

The Mabo decision, Bill Clinton heading for the White House, Paul Keating a winner despite the odds.

The music of 1992 was all over the shop from Right Said Fred to Achy Breaky Heart.
